There are countless ways to use Talking Planet Studio. Whether you're in a classroom, a language nest, a community group or learning together as a family, these ideas are a great place to start.
Translate and Teach
Work with a Language Keeper to translate a Library episode into your language. Watch the finished episode together in class, then challenge learners to use the Sandbox to create their own stories using the new vocabulary.
Host a Community Premiere
Export a finished episode and screen it at a community event, language group or celebration. Seeing familiar faces, voices and stories on screen can be a powerful way to celebrate language and culture.
Take Language Home
Choose a Mini Episode and ask learners to complete it with a parent, grandparent or Elder. Record the dialogue together, then share the different accents, dialects and family stories back in class.
Create Comic Strip Worksheets
Turn Sandbox scenes into printable PDF comic strips. Learners can colour the illustrations, add speech bubbles, write translations and practise vocabulary offline.
Make Personal Messages
Create birthday wishes, thank-you messages, invitations or holiday greetings in your language. Add your own narration and speech bubbles, then share the finished video with family and friends.
Create Conversations
In the Sandbox, pairs of learners each take the role of one character and build a conversation together. How long can you keep the conversation going using only the words you already know?
Make Language Games
Use Sandbox comic strip frames to create flashcards, picture-and-word matching games, memory cards and labels for objects around your home, classroom or community space. It's a fun way to practise vocabulary while surrounding learners with everyday language.
Make Your Own Picture Book
Use the Sandbox to tell a story one page at a time. Draw illustrations, add narration and speech bubbles, then export the finished pages as a printable PDF to create your own bilingual picture book.
Build a Story Together
One learner starts the story by drawing the first frame, then passes it to the next learner, who continues the story. Keep going until everyone has added a scene.
My Day
Learners take photos during the day (breakfast, school, playing, family) then import them into the Sandbox and add speech bubbles and audio to create a video diary.
Our Community
Create a welcome guide to your community. Photograph important places and landmarks, then import them into the Sandbox and add narration and captions to help others learn about your home.
There isn't a "right" way to use Talking Planet Studio. Every community has its own stories, traditions and ways of learning. These ideas are simply starting points - use them, adapt them, or invent something completely new.
